365 in 365

we commit to exercise 365 times in 365 days

About us

On Tuesday January 19, 2009,  Mattison Grey decided to follow her own advice and make a HUGE fitness goal for 2009.  So 365 in 365 was born.  It’s simple really:  do 365 days of exercise in 365 days.  Jonathan Mankse heard about it and asked to join in.   Bonnie Crowder and Sarah Shah were also early adopters of the 365 Fitness Game.  By the time you read this we may have given up or there could 100’s of  participants.  Who knows.   You are welcome to join us.  Please read the “rules” and if you agree to them jump on in. We have all committed to exercise 365 times in 365 days.  This blog documents our progress,  results and observations.

  1. Pretty interesting to wake up in the morning and wonder what I will do today to exercise – not wonder if I will exercise rather wondering about what I am going to do. I like it!

  2. I really like the idea of community for exercise. Think how much better we will feel after moving everyday for the next year. It then becomes a lifetime behavior. What a way to enjoy living.

  3. Hi. Thanks for the invitation. This sounds like a GOOD THING. I started Weight Watchers last January and got my life membership this January. I also joined a gym in December, so this will help with the motivation to continue stopping in after work every day. I don’t know a thing about blogs or twitters, but perhaps I can learn. Good luck to everybody out there.

  4. Hi guys, thanks for putting this on! I have been pretty good and regular with my exercising for the last few years and REALLY loving it. But somehow for the past months the gaps have been getting longer … 🙂 So happy to have this group to check in with and stay on track. Thanks, Mattison and Jonathan!

  5. I think this is fantastic and I’m joining y’all in the 365 commitment. 24 years ago I developed severe back pain that has never stopped. Got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia but we all know that just means “we don’t know what it is.” I have spent a LOT of time in bed or on the floor and am very out of shape. I had already made a personal commitment to myself that 2009 would be the year that i would heal this pain plus, no matter what level of pain I was in, I would become physically fit once again. At this point walking or jumping on the cellercizer is my exercise. I’ve got some Beachbody DVDs sitting here and I’m itching to be able to do them – but am not up for that yet. I really like that you’ve stated that we determine what’s exercise for us. On somedays, the fact that I stood up for 30 minutes grocery shopping is exercise for me. So- today is my day 1 in this community.

  6. Hi to this group…
Feels crazy, but I think I’d like to join up. How do I officially “join”? And how do I officially participate? I’m not on Twitter (yet) — seems like just one more thing to figure out and I’m not sure I have the time. Would rather spend the time starting to exercise!
I’m a person who just can’t get myself to exercise without structure. Last summer I trained for and did a half-marathon for “Team in Training” (to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). I trained and I did the event in September… then I haven’t walked a single mile since!!!
So I will start this program as follows: every day will include either a walk, or some other aerobic exercise, or weights, or yoga/stretching. But again… how do I officially “join” and start? Thanks — Ruth Anderson
